How to remove the Scorpion Saver Adware.

Alright, this is going to be my forth removal guide for a piece of adware that has been making the rounds and has been spreading quite rapidly. The adware in question that this blog post is going to be focusing on is called Scorpion Saver.

And for those of you who do not know, adware is the umbrella term for most pieces of software that comes bundled with a piece of software that you install. You did not ask for it, and perhaps the installer did not even tell you that it was going to install other software.

So by and large, adware is unwelcome on your system even though it is not technically malware.

And because I have had quite a few cases of people with it on their computers, I decided to make a removal guide.

Step #1: Click on the start button on your computer, look for Control Panel, then click Add/Remove Programs. Please note that this may be labeled Uninstall a program depending on what version of Windows you are running.

Step #2: Look for Scorpion Saver and any programs from AdPeak Inc. and select uninstall.

Step #3: Follow the prompts given by Windows to uninstall Scorpion Saver.

Step #4: Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/

Step #5: Run the downloaded installer and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Step #6: Once the program is installed, it will automatically open a window. Once this window is open, click Perform Quick Scan, and then click the scan button.

Now if you are a regular reader on my blog, you will no doubt notice that I am recommending a Quick scan rather then a Full scan. A quick scan is sufficient to remove most if not all remains of Scorpion Saver from your system.

Step #7: When the scan is complete, it will open a message box. Click OK, and then click show results.

Step #8: Click Remove Selected. If Malwarebytes prompts you to restart your computer, please allow it to do so.

Some installations of Scorpion Saver also mess with your browser. This can be easily fixed with the following mini-guides covering the most popular browsers.

Mini-guide 1: Internet Explorer

Step #1: Open Internet Explorer.

Step #2: Go to tools, (the white cog near the top right of the window) then go to manage add-ons, then go to toolbars and extensions.

Step #3: If you find Scorpion Saver, uninstall it.

Step #4: Go to Search Providers and choose whatever Search Engine you used before.

Mini-guide 2: Mozilla Firefox

Step #1: Open Firefox.

Step #2: Click on the orange Firefox button at the top left of the window. Then click Add-ons and then go to extensions.

Step #3: If you find Scorpion Saver, uninstall it or disable it depending on what options you have.

Step #4: Close the tab and go back to the Firefox button. Click on options, then General.

Step #5: Change your homepage to what it was before.

Mini-guide 3: Google Chrome
