Why I put in a donate button

If you have been coming to my blog for some time, you might have noticed the new Donate button which allows you to donate to me. Donations are appreciated, but not necessary.

Here is why I decided to put the donate button in.

I have recently decided to turn my blog into an actual domain, without the use of the .blogspot subdomain associated with free blogs on Blogger.

Free from the somewhat embarrassing constraint of a subdomain, I can now start to help my blog reach new heights. And with these new heights comes more viewers who just might find something helpful to them.

From here, I can further my journey to help bring about the end of malware. Once that mission is done, this blog will no longer have a reason to exist.

But with the domain comes the cost of registering it and maintaining it, which costs money. Not much, but some. And a cost that I am more then willing to pay in order to reach my goal. This is why I almost did not put the donate button there.

But I started thinking about all the comments on some of my blog posts where I have been the first one with a solution to something. I thought to myself, maybe some readers might find my cause noble and right enough to donate to help keep the lights on with this blog.

I chose against ads almost as fast as the idea of ads came to mind. Not profitable, and it makes the blog look worse for my readers. This is something that I decided would never be put on my blog as long as I had control of it.

With this in mind, I hope that you will donate to me and my mission. Every penny helps keep me online and helps me in my life mission to help end malware.
